Saudia Introduces New nonstop routes from Riyadh and Jeddah to Beijing.

  • The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Sunday that Riyadh and Jeddah now have new direct flights to Beijing on Saudia, the country’s national flag carrier.
  • This action is considered as a testament to Saudi Arabia and China’s commitment to strengthening their cooperation in conjunction with the Air Connectivity Programme (ACP), the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
  • It stated the first flight from Jeddah to Beijing took off on August 4, 2023, and the first direct flight from Riyadh to Beijing took off on August 6, 2023.
  • With the addition of these new routes, the nearly 165 million residents of northern China now have easy access to the Kingdom, opening the door for more cross-border travel and developing closer cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the world’s aviation markets, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
  • According to SPA, ACP, the Kingdom’s air connectivity facilitator, was instrumental in the establishment of these new routes. The initiative is in line with Saudi Arabia’s aim to accelerating development in its tourism and aviation industries.
  • “The launch of this new route comes shortly after the hugely successful 10th Arab-China business forum in Riyadh and represents an important development in our ongoing efforts to expand air connectivity,” SPA quoted ACP CEO Ali Rajab as saying.
  • According to ACP, new routes to and from the Kingdom will be introduced in the second half of 2023 and the first half of 2024, enhancing the aviation network and increasing accessibility internationally, the SPA reported.
  • The International Air Transport Association (IATA) ranking of Saudi Arabia’s improved worldwide air connectivity rose from 27th in 2019 to 13th in 2022, according to SPA, demonstrating the tangible effects of the efforts to increase air connection.
  • “At SAUDIA, we remain dedicated to expanding our network and contributing to the 250 destinations outlined in the Saudi National Aviation strategy,” SPA quoted SAUDIA CEO Capt. Ibrahim Koshy as saying.
  • “Partnerships, like the one with ACP, play a crucial role in achieving this goal. Together, we have successfully launched routes, including Birmingham, UK, and Zurich, Switzerland, that have enabled us to connect the world to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
