- The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that employees in the public and commercial sectors will have a 4-day break in April in observance of Eid Al Fitr.
- Authorities made the announcement on Saturday that most workers would have four days off starting on Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29, 1445). The Kingdom’s official weekend days are Friday and Saturday, therefore Saudi citizens will have six days off in a row. Workers will report back to work on Sunday, April 14.
- Additionally, the ministry stated that businesses have to follow the guidelines set forth in Article 24 of the Labor Law’s executive regulation, namely paragraph 2.
- Ramadan, a holy month that began on March 11, comes to an end on Eid Al Fitr. Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan in order to devote themselves to spiritual activities.
- Ramadan is observed on the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which has 354 or 355 days in a year. As a result, based on the moon sighting, Ramadan may last 29 or 30 days. On the first of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan, people celebrate Eid Al Fitr.
- The UAE government has declared a list of public and private sector holidays, and Eid Al Fitr will be observed by the locals from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. If one observes a 30-day Ramadan, April 10 is Eid. April 9 is the Islamic feast if the month has 29 days in it.
